There’s a significant nursing shortage in the state of Alabama. Recent reports indicate an approximate 15% vacancy rate in medical, surgery and specialized nursing positions. As is, the state’s nursing schools turn away prospective students simply because there aren’t enough educators or learning facilities. If left to continue, the state current nursing shortage will continue to worsen over the next decade – especially since current faculty is nearing retirement and needs replacement. Nurses with Master and Doctoral degrees are in dire need to fill both teaching and personnel positions ranging from patient education to outpatient care.

You need only two years of distance education to work as a nurse in an Alabama hospital or clinic.
