Of the 50 states, Alaska has the worst nursing shortage of all and the current situation shows no sign of improvement. The northern and southwest areas of the state compare miserably when examined in relation to the entire world. What’s behind the shortage?

Alaska’s growing aging population increases the need for more nurses. There’s that and the fact that aging relatives continue to migrate to the state.
