Like in many other states, Connecticut too, is nearing a nursing shortage crisis. Connecticut may be one of the smaller states, but it’s the most populated, making a lack of sufficient nurses a danger to health. In as little as a few months, the state will scramble to meet its demand for at least 11,000 nursing professionals — especially since the number of Connecticut’s surgical centers, outpatient clinics, and walk-in medical centers are growing.

Even the state’s ability to churn out qualified nurses is endangered. The number of Connecticut’s nursing educators is shrinking too. So we’re looking at a situation that needs not only nurse educators, it needs nurse practitioners, acute-care and emergency-room nurses, and allied health professionals as well.
Ready for some good news? Many employers will pay for online nursing programs including LPN to RN programs and RN to BSN programs at prestigious schools like Yale University, Bridgeport Hospital’s School of Nursing, and more.
Number of Connecticut nursing jobs today: 24,175 RPNs
Projected number of Connecticut nurses needed: 34,158 RPNs
One of the reasons why nurses earn so much in this state is Connecticut’s cost of living. You’ll have to remember that while looking over the tremendous opportunities. The average RN working in New Haven for example, can pull in anywhere from $61,000 and $74,000 a year.
