One of the best ways to start in your situation might be to start by earning a certificate as a CNA. It takes about 3 months. While the pay might be on the lower end, it would get your foot in the door. And you can earn one though a community college.

The next step up would be to earn an LNP degree which takes about a year. The pay is better, but if you like being a CNA, you will love being an LPN.
